The Bosco Verticale (Vertical Forest) is a complex of two residential skyscrapers designed by Boeri Studio (Stefano Boeri, Gianandrea Barreca, and Giovanni La Varra) and located in the Porta Nuova district of Milan, Italy. They have a height of 116 metres (381 ft) and 84 m (276 ft) and within the complex is an 11-storey office building.[3]

The distinctive feature of the skyscrapers, both inaugurated in 2014, is the presence of over ninety plant species, including tall shrubs and trees, distributed on the facades. It is an ambitious project of metropolitan reforestation that aims to increase the biodiversity of plant and animal species in the Lombard capital through vertical greening, reducing urban sprawl and contributing to the mitigation of the microclimate.

The Tower of Babel, Pieter Bruegel, Image Source: File:Pieter Bruegel the Elder - The Tower of Babel (Vienna) - Google Art Project - edited.jpg

“Bruegel's depiction of the architecture of the tower, with its numerous arches and other examples of Roman engineering, is deliberately reminiscent of the Roman Colosseum, which Christians of the time saw as a symbol of both hubris and persecution”. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Tower_of_Babel_(Bruegel)

Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves; otherwise we will be scattered over the face of the whole earth.” – Genesis 11:4

The Garden of Earthly Delights, 1490 - 1510, Hieronymus Bosch, https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:The_Garden_of_earthly_delights.jpg

As little is known of Bosch's life or intentions, interpretations of his artistic intent behind the work range from an admonition of worldly fleshy indulgence, to a dire warning on the perils of life's temptations, to an evocation of ultimate sexual joy. The intricacy of its symbolism, particularly that of the central panel, has led to a wide range of scholarly interpretations over the centuries. Twentieth-century art historians are divided as to whether the triptych's central panel is a moral warning or a panorama of paradise lost. Elysium City

Nova Palmae

Mandala like plan of the utopan, Renaissance city Sforzinda: “Writers of the Middle Ages have interpreted this design as a cosmic symbol; this is attested by illustrations in medieval codices in which the seasons of the year, the four elements, the four winds, and the four corners of the world are arranged in just such a scheme of two superimposed squares. This scheme alludes to the world and to the universe. They Hypnerotomachia Poliphili makes it clear that this idea still held valid in the Renaissance, and a 17th century commentator on Sacrobosco's Sphere used the same two superimposed squares to represent the cosmos.”

The Translation of the Body of St Mark to the Basilica on the lunette above the north portal of the west façade (Porta di Sant' Alipio) is the only ancient mosaic preserved on the façade of the Basilica of San Marco. It shows the Basilica as it must have looked in the mid-13th century, before the Gothic sculptural decorations were added. Clearly visible are the four bronze horses on the second-storey terrace.
